Purnia: A heart-wrenching case has emerged from the Krityanandnagar police station area of Purnia district, where a man, who struggled for years to make his wife a teacher, was abandoned by her. The woman, employed as a Panchayat teacher in a village under Baunsi police station, allegedly eloped with a neighbor, leaving behind her husband and two children.
The victim, who worked tirelessly by selling newspapers and vegetables to support his family, had hoped for a better future after his wife secured employment. However, his world came crashing down when he learned that she had fled with a neighbor on Tuesday.
The husband alleged that his wife was enticed away as part of a conspiracy involving the accused man and his family. Despite filing complaints with the District Education Officer (DEO), District Magistrate (DM), and the Baunsi police station, there has been no trace of her even after three days.
The husband, who had applied for a teaching position in 2008, was unable to secure the job initially. After a prolonged legal battle, he was finally appointed as a Panchayat teacher in 2018 following a High Court order. However, financial hardships continued, as he did not receive a salary for the first seven to eight months of employment.
To sustain his family, he distributed newspapers in the morning and sold vegetables throughout the day. He took loans from banks and friends, hoping that once both he and his wife earned, they could lead a stable life. Currently, he works as a salesman for a private company in Purnia.
The headmaster of the school confirmed that the teacher had been absent for three consecutive days without informing the authorities. The education department has been notified about her absence.
Meanwhile, Baunsi SHO Vikas Kumar stated that efforts are underway to trace the missing teacher.
