Patna University Student Elections: 19,000 to Cast Their Votes Tomorrow as Campaigning Ends

Patna : Campaigning for the Patna University Student Union (PUSU) elections concluded on Thursday evening, with preparations now in place for the voting scheduled to take place on Saturday. Around 19,000 students are expected to cast their votes across 42 booths set up in various colleges. Voting will begin at 8 am, and the counting of votes will commence at 4 pm the same day at the College of Arts and Crafts.
A total of 19,059 voters will decide the outcome of the elections. Patna Women’s College, which has the highest number of voters at 4,461, will host nine booths — the highest among all colleges. Magadh Mahila College will have five booths to accommodate its voters.
Presidential debate ends amid criticism
On the final day of campaigning, a presidential debate was held at the Patna Science College grounds, where candidates for the president’s post presented their agendas to the voters. However, the debate drew criticism from student organisations and candidates, who described it as a mere formality. The event was marred by inadequate arrangements, with complaints about the lack of a tent, water, and poor microphone quality.
The Vice Chancellor of Patna University was notably absent from the debate, further adding to the discontent.
