Buxar / Patna : The Bihar government has announced the construction of a 5.5-kilometre bypass road in Buxar, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion in the district. The project, which was approved two years ago by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and the state government, is now moving forward, with land acquisition in progress.
Local officials have confirmed that landowners in the villages of Bankat and Puraini Mauja have agreed to hand over their land for the project, while assessments for compensation are currently underway. However, for farmers in Dumraon and Bhojpur Jadid who have not given consent, the administration has begun a process of compulsory acquisition. Notices have already been issued, and physical verification of the land is taking place.
Official Review Meeting
On April 2, a review meeting was held by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rakesh Kumar to assess progress on the bypass. The meeting was attended by National Highway Division Executive Engineer Arya, Land Acquisition Officer Vineet Kumar, and Trainee Deputy Collector Amit Kumar. Officials discussed the next steps for the project, including engagement with affected landowners.
Speaking at the meeting, Vineet Kumar noted that despite repeated notices, some farmers had not yet submitted the necessary documents. “If they do not comply, the administration will proceed with taking possession of the designated land,” he said.
