Bihar: Namami Gange Project Engineer Shot in Munger, Police Detain One Suspect

MUNGER – An engineer working on the sewerage treatment plant under the Namami Gange scheme in the Munger Municipal Corporation area was shot. The engineer is currently undergoing treatment at a private nursing home. The gunshot wound is below the engineer’s leg, and one person has been detained by the police.

The sewerage treatment plant is part of the ongoing Namami Gange Project in the Munger Municipal Corporation area, involving excavation work on city roads. On Friday night, while laying the pipeline near Bindwara turn, an altercation occurred when two individuals in a car attempted to stop engineer Vipin Kumar from digging the road around 3 o’clock.

Amid the argument, one of the individuals pulled out a pistol and fired at Engineer Vipin Kumar, striking him in the lower leg.

The injured engineer was swiftly admitted to the Safiabad emergency hospital for treatment. Upon receiving information about the incident, the Qasim Bazar police station chief arrived at the scene. Police conducted raids in multiple locations to apprehend the responsible individual, leading to the detention of one suspect. The police are actively investigating the matter.

The injured engineer hails from Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh.
