Gopalganj /Patna : A pregnant woman was found dead in her in-laws’ home in Gopalganj district on Thursday night, with police investigating the case as a suspected suicide.

Sarita Devi, who lived in Badi Ishar village under the Hathua police station area, was discovered hanging in her room early on Friday morning. She is survived by her young daughter. According to police, Devi had reportedly been requesting to join her husband, Manu Yadav, who works in Delhi, but her requests had been repeatedly denied.

Local authorities said family members had dinner together before retiring to their respective rooms. Her body was discovered the next morning. Police arrived at the scene, retrieved the body, and sent it to Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination.

A forensic team has since visited the home to collect evidence. “We are examining all possibilities, including suicide and foul play,” said the Hathua police station in-charge. “The family has so far been reluctant to share details.”
