Motihari / Patna : Police in Bihar are investigating a powerful explosion that tore through a vacant house in Motihari, East Champaran district, early Monday, prompting the deployment of forensic teams and a bomb disposal squad.

The blast occurred in the Kundwa Chainpur area, within the jurisdiction of Jatwalia police station, and caused significant structural damage to the semi-constructed building. Bricks were scattered across the site, and the force of the explosion reportedly dislodged door frames and damaged the walls.

While no injuries have been reported, the incident has sparked alarm among local residents. Authorities have cordoned off the area and barred civilian access as investigations continue. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), along with a dog squad and bomb experts, has been dispatched to examine the site.

The house, which locals say had been unoccupied for an extended period, is believed to belong to a man identified as Kapil Dev Dubey. According to reports, Dubey had left the house locked after a dispute with unidentified individuals a few days prior to the explosion. Police are probing whether the dispute is connected to the blast.

An officer at the scene said it was too early to determine the nature of the explosion, but confirmed that all angles were being examined. “We are taking the matter seriously. The area has been sealed off and investigations are underway,” the officer said.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been confirmed, but some residents suspect the use of explosives. The police have urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculation as they continue their inquiry.
