The day began with a march led by BAU Vice-Chancellor Dr D. R. Singh, which commenced from the Bihar Agricultural College premises and concluded at the university’s main gate. Students, faculty members and university officials participated in the procession, paying homage to Ambedkar’s contribution to social justice and constitutional democracy.

Dr Singh inaugurated the formal ceremony by garlanding a portrait of Dr Ambedkar and lighting a ceremonial lamp. In his address, he called Ambedkar a “beacon of democratic ideals” and underscored the continuing relevance of his vision for an egalitarian India. He praised the Bihar government’s reservation policies for women and marginalised communities, urging other states to follow suit. He also noted the university’s recent expansion of student intake by 300 seats, crediting government support for the achievement.
