Patna: In a bold and creative step to instil road safety awareness among school children, the Bihar Transport Department is set to launch a visual education campaign across schools in the state. The initiative, approved during a recent Executive Committee meeting of the Bihar Road Safety Council chaired by the Development Commissioner, will see boundary walls of schools adorned with impactful slogans and colourful paintings promoting safe behaviour on roads.
Designed to be both educational and engaging, the campaign will focus on making complex safety concepts easily digestible for young minds. Themes will include helmet usage, the importance of wearing seat belts, responsible speed limits, the dangers of mobile phone use while walking or driving, and the rights of pedestrians. The aim is to encourage lifelong awareness of road safety from an early age.
To bring the initiative to life, the Transport Commissioner—also the in-charge officer for the campaign—has reached out to the Information and Public Relations Department to gather details on rates for wall painting and slogan writing. This will help ensure proper budgeting and smooth execution.
Coordination will be key to the campaign’s success. The Bihar Road Safety Council will work closely with the Education Department to carry out the initiative across schools. A dedicated monitoring committee is also set to be formed to oversee timely implementation and maintain the quality of messaging.
