Sheohar: MLA Chetan Anand on Friday announced that the district will soon get its first medical college, along with a new bridge over the Bagmati river between Adouri and Khoripakad villages. The developments are part of ongoing efforts to accelerate infrastructure growth in the region.

Addressing a press conference at the Janata Dal (United) head office in Awadh Market, Anand said, “We are committed to the all-round development of Sheohar. Two major projects will be added soon — a medical college and a new bridge across Bagmati.”

The MLA informed that land is currently being identified for the proposed medical college. “As soon as the land is finalized, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will lay the foundation stone within 15 days,” Anand said.

He further stated that Sheohar has witnessed rapid infrastructure development during his tenure. “From educational institutions to expressways, several major works are either completed or underway,” he added.

Anand listed several development initiatives, including the reconstruction of the road near Degree College, upgrades at ITI and Engineering College, and the construction of expressways such as Gorakhpur–Siliguri and Raxaul–Haldia. He also mentioned progress on the Ayodhya–Janakpur Dham Special Corridor and the Sheohar phase of the Sitamarhi–Motihari railway line.

“Two-lane work from Dekuli Dham to Kushahar is ongoing, along with road widening up to Muzaffarpur via Minapur–Sheohar. So far, 88 roads and 35 bridges have been built. Additionally, 300 school buildings and boundary walls have been constructed,” he said.

The MLA also highlighted efforts to promote tourism by declaring Dekuli Dham a tourist destination. “Construction, beautification, and expansion works are in progress. Both embankments of the Bagmati river are being repaired and paved,” he added.

He also noted the revival of the long-defunct Riga sugar mill as another sign of the district’s growing potential.

Senior JDU leaders Awadh Kishore Prasad and Vijay Vikas were present at the press conference, along with other party members.
