Multiple Train Cancellations on Bihar-Gorakhpur Route

Chhapra: Major train disruptions have been reported in Bihar and parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh due to ongoing construction work on a third rail line between Gorakhpur and Gorakhpur Cantt, affecting both daily commuters and long-distance passengers.

The Indian Railways has announced the cancellation and diversion of several trains operating via Saran district in Bihar to Gorakhpur, causing significant inconvenience, particularly for pilgrims travelling to Vaishno Devi.

On Sunday, the weekly Maurya Dhwaj Superfast train, which passes through Chhapra Junction, was cancelled, leaving many devotees visibly disheartened. Other affected services included the Darbhanga-New Delhi Special (02569) and Clone Humsafar Express (02563), both of which were diverted through alternative routes.

In the opposite direction, the Kathgodam-Howrah Express (13020) was rerouted via Chhapra, while Janseva Express and the Chhapra-Gorakhpur passenger service (55055) were among those cancelled entirely. The Amritsar-bound Janseva Express (14617) was also called off.

Despite advance notice issued by railway authorities, a number of passengers reached stations unaware of the cancellations. Stranded at platforms, many expressed frustration over a lack of timely updates.

Speaking on the matter, Public Relations Officer Ashok Kumar urged travellers to verify the status of their trains before departure. “We request passengers to check updates on the official railway website or through helpline services to avoid inconvenience,” he said.
