Gaya / Patna : Patwa Toli, a small village in Bihar’s Gaya district, has once again lived up to its title of ‘IIT Village’ as over 40 of its students have successfully cleared the JEE Main 2025. Known for producing a high number of engineering aspirants each year, this weavers’ village continues to inspire with its focus on education.
Of the 40 successful candidates, 28 students were mentored by Vriksha Sansthan, a free coaching initiative run by IIT alumni. Founded in 2013, the Sansthan provides study materials and online classes conducted by IIT graduates living in metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai. This initiative primarily supports children from underprivileged backgrounds, especially weaver families.
The village’s academic journey began in 1991 when Jitendra Patwa became the first person from Patwa Toli to enter IIT. Now based in the US, he supports the cause through his NGO ‘Vriksh We The Change’.
Among the top scorers this year are Sharanya (99.64 percentile), Alok (97.7), Shaurya (97.53), Yash Raj (97.38), Shubham (96.7), Pratik (96.35), Ketan (96), Nivas (95.7), and Gaurika Yadav (95.1).
Despite its economic challenges, Patwa Toli continues to set a national example of how grassroots efforts, community support, and access to quality education can drive remarkable success.
