
Patna: A man has been arrested in Patna after allegedly attempting to rape a woman and holding her family hostage in their home. The incident took place on the evening of April 20 in the High Court Society, located in the Kotwali police station area.
According to the victim’s complaint, the accused, identified as Hitesh Kumar from Jakkanpur, entered the home with a friend around 7 pm. He reportedly forced the woman’s father and brother into a room, locking them inside while he proceeded to assault the woman, tearing her clothes and attempting to rape her. The incident caused a commotion in the area, with locals witnessing the violence.
The victim also claimed that the accused used abusive language on social media prior to the attack. Kotwali Police Station’s SHO, Rajan Kumar, confirmed the case had been filed and stated that the accused was currently in police custody. An investigation is ongoing.
While the accused and the victim are known to each other, the situation escalated quickly, with a crowd of people gathering outside the police station in support of the accused, including lawyers and family members. As of the latest update, the suspect remains in custody while police continue their inquiry into the case.
