BHAGALPUR – Rajdhani Express train number 12423, en route from Dibrugarh to New Delhi, encountered a case of stone pelting on Monday evening. The incident occurred after the train departed from Katihar, specifically near Banikpur Halt between Kataria-Navagachia station.
The assailants targeted the right side windows of bogie number three and 11, resulting in broken glass. No passengers were reported injured in the attack.
This is not the first time Rajdhani Express has been subjected to such incidents, as mischievous elements continue to target the train. The Navagachiya Railway Protection Force (RPF) was promptly notified of the incident after the train departed from Barauni station around 8 pm on Monday.
Navagachiya RPF Police registered a case under the Railway Act and initiated an immediate investigation. The Barauni Dog Squad also examined the scene. Inspector Mrinal Kumar of Navagachiya RPF stated that the person responsible has been identified and will be apprehended soon.
Frequent Attacks: Stone Pelting Incidents on the Rise
This marks the fourth stone-pelting incident within a month, with a total of six cases registered under the Railway Act at the Navagachiya RPF police station. While arrests have been made in four cases, investigations are ongoing for the remaining two reported on October 26 and December 11.
Additional cases have been registered at Mansi and Bihpur RPF police stations. The RPF Inspector assured that progress has been made in some cases, and the remaining ones will be resolved soon.
Previous Incidents and Arrests
In a series of arrests related to stone-pelting cases, Akhilesh Kumar from Bari was apprehended for his involvement in a March incident. Bittu Kumar was arrested in connection with stone pelting on the Northeast Sampark Kranti Express, and Mantosh Kumar of Kursela faced charges in the stone-pelting case involving Awadh Assam Express.
Chhotu Jha, son of Rajkumar Jha from Indira village, was arrested in connection with a previous stone-pelting incident on Rajdhani Express.
