Patna: RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, calling it “painful” and “deeply distressing.” Speaking to reporters at Patna Airport on Wednesday, the former deputy chief minister expressed grief over the killing of civilians, including an Intelligence Bureau officer from Bihar, and demanded swift justice for the victims.
“The entire nation is heartbroken. This was an attack on innocent tourists—an act that shakes the conscience,” Tejashwi said. “We could not have imagined something so horrific. The whole country stands united in grief.”
Tejashwi called on the central government to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice with the harshest punishment. “The victims’ families deserve nothing less than accountability and closure,” he added.
Invoking the memory of the 2019 Pulwama attack, Tejashwi also raised questions over the government’s past handling of terror investigations. “Even after all these years, the country is still waiting to know who was behind the Pulwama attack,” he said. “If such tragic incidents continue, it is imperative that the government not only act swiftly but also transparently.”
The Pahalgam attack, which occurred on Tuesday at the popular Baisaran Valley tourist site, claimed 26 lives, including that of Manish Ranjan, an IB officer from Bihar who was travelling with his family. The assault, which targeted unarmed civilians, has led to widespread outrage and renewed calls for strengthened national security and counterterrorism strategy.
