Patna: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has launched a recruitment drive to fill 1,024 Assistant Engineer positions across various state departments. The advertisement for this recruitment has been officially released, presenting a significant opportunity for engineering graduates to secure a government job in Bihar.

The online application process begins on April 30, 2025, and will close on May 28, 2025. To be eligible, applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BE/BTech) in the relevant discipline.

The vacancies are divided into three categories: Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical, with 984 posts for Assistant Engineers in Civil, 36 for Mechanical, and 4 for Electrical. The details of the departmental distribution are as follows:

Assistant Engineer (Civil) Posts:

  • Road Construction Department: 117 posts
  • Building Construction Department: 55 posts
  • Rural Works Department: 231 posts
  • Water Resources Department: 351 posts
  • Minor Water Resources Department: 58 posts
  • Urban Development and Housing Department: 85 posts
  • Planning and Development Department: 82 posts
  • Animal and Fisheries Resources Department: 5 posts

Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) Posts:

  • Road Construction Department: 12 posts
  • Building Construction Department: 3 posts
  • Minor Water Resources Department: 4 posts
  • Urban Development and Housing Department: 17 posts

Assistant Engineer (Electrical) Posts:

  • Urban Development and Housing Department: 4 posts

The minimum qualifying marks for the written examination are set as follows by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Bihar:

  • General Category: 40%
  • Backward Class: 36.5%
  • Extremely Backward Class: 34%
  • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe, Women, and Disabled Candidates: 32%
