IIT Patna Honours Student Coordinators for Championing Career Development and Mentorship

Patna: In a gesture of appreciation that blended tradition with modern ambition, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna on Wednesday hosted a felicitation ceremony to honour the student coordinators of its Centre for Career Development and Counselling (CCDC). The event celebrated their pivotal role in expanding career opportunities, mentorship and peer support over the past academic year.
Held in the institute’s auditorium, the event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a Saraswati Vandana, marking the auspicious start to an afternoon that brimmed with gratitude, reflection and inspiration. Around 80 students from BTech, MTech, MSc, and PhD programmes were awarded mementos and certificates for their commitment and contribution to student welfare and career advancement.
Director Prof T. N. Singh, while addressing the gathering, emphasised that the mission of education goes far beyond technical excellence. “Along with becoming a good engineer and professional, one must also learn how to become a good human being. The true purpose of education is fulfilled only when you become a good human being,” he said. Drawing from nature, he added, “As the water of a river flows continuously, so must students progress in their journey.”
Also present were Prof A. K. Thakur, Dean of Administration; Dr N. K. Tomar, Chairman of CCDC; Dr Ashwini Assam, former Professor-in-Charge of Training and Placement; and Kripa Shankar Singh, Training and Placement Officer. Each lauded the collaborative effort of the students and encouraged them to keep striving for excellence.
Prof Singh credited the achievements of the current cohort to a “cumulative, collaborative effort,” praising the synergy between seniors, juniors, and faculty mentors. He reiterated the institute’s commitment to empowering students with infrastructure, mentorship and opportunities to navigate a competitive world.
The event concluded on an uplifting note, as students basked in a sense of pride and purpose. The awards, while symbolic, stood as reminders of the impact of leadership, teamwork and the human touch in an otherwise high-tech ecosystem.
