Patna: The Bihar Police Headquarters has withdrawn its earlier order banning firecrackers and late-night music following a de-escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan after the ceasefire announced on Saturday evening.
The restrictions, which were imposed in the wake of heightened alert across the country after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, had prohibited the use of firecrackers and barred playing music after 10pm. The directive was enforced statewide and aimed at maintaining security in the wake of strategic concerns along the India–Pakistan border.
The order had called for heightened vigilance and urged district magistrates, senior superintendents, and superintendents of police to ensure strict compliance.
Although the order has now been rescinded, the police have reiterated that even under normal circumstances, members of the public should keep music volumes low, particularly during late-night marriage functions, which are currently in full swing across the state. As per existing rules, loud music after 10pm remains prohibited.
