Bihar Government Introduces Online Ration Card Application for Easy Access

Patna: In a move aimed at increasing accessibility and efficiency, the Bihar government has digitized the ration card application process, making it easier for eligible beneficiaries to apply from the comfort of their homes. This new initiative eliminates the need for long office visits and long queues, offering a seamless and transparent method for obtaining a ration card.

To apply, individuals can visit the official website rconline.bihar.gov.in. New users must sign up by selecting ‘New User Sign Up for Meri Pehchan’, followed by completing a registration form with family member details. An OTP sent to the mobile number completes the registration process. Once registered, applicants can log in with their new credentials to fill out the application form.

The process requires uploading essential documents such as Aadhaar cards, bank passbooks, residence certificates, family photos, and, where applicable, disability, income, or caste certificates. After submitting the application, a reference number will be sent via SMS, enabling applicants to track the status of their request.

This online service is expected to save time and resources for the general public, while enhancing the transparency of the ration card application process. The Food and Consumer Protection Department has urged all eligible citizens to take advantage of this new digital facility.
