Patna: The Bihar government has issued a stern warning to 15 officers of the Bihar Administrative Service (BAS) for failing to update their digital service records on the state’s Service History Portal. The General Administration Department has served notices to the officers, citing their inaction as indiscipline and a violation of official directives.
The officers have been given a deadline of May 19, 2025 to comply and provide a satisfactory explanation. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or demotion. A mandatory update session has been scheduled for the same date.
Officers Named in the Notice
The 15 officials named in the notice include:
Sushil Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Akhilesh Kumar Singh, Virendra Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Rakesh Kumar Jha, Pramod Kumar, Gayan Kumar Ram, Suraj Kumar Sinha, Renu Kumari, Uttam Kumar, Sudhir Kumar, Dushyant Kumar, Deep Shikha, and Arup.
Push for Digital Accountability
The state government has launched the Service History Portal as part of a broader push for digital transparency and streamlined governance. Officers are required to upload personal and career-related information to the platform, ensuring an accessible, centralized record system.
Officials said the move is part of a broader drive to modernize administrative processes under the Digital India mission. However, repeated reminders to the 15 officers were allegedly ignored, prompting this firm action.
No Tolerance for Delay
“The delay has been deemed a serious breach of administrative discipline,” stated the department’s letter. The administration reiterated that previous incidents of non-compliance had already resulted in action and that no leniency would be shown this time.
