
Patna: In a bid to foster environmental awareness among school students, the Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB) will organise a series of competitions on Saturday, May 17, at Gyan Bhawan in Patna.
The event, running from 9:30am to 6pm, aims to engage students from across the state in activities focused on environmental protection and pollution control.
Spot Painting Competition:
Scheduled from 9:30am to 10:30am, this competition will welcome more than 1,350 students from Classes 1 to 10. Participants will be grouped into five categories based on class levels, ranging from Class 1–2 up to Class 9–10.
Essay Writing Competition:
From 11:30am to 12:00 noon, students from Classes 9 to 12 will take part in a half-hour essay writing competition. Over 500 students have registered. Topics will be announced on-site, and participants may write in either Hindi or English.
Quiz Competition:
From 2:00pm to 6:00pm, a quiz competition led by renowned quizmaster Venkatesh Srinivasan of Bangalore will see around 250 students from Classes 9 to 12 compete. Only the top scorers in the initial round of 30 questions will advance to later stages, with prizes awarded to the top three.
Winners across all events will be honoured on World Environment Day, June 5, 2025, at a special ceremony at Gyan Bhawan. Results will be published on the board’s official website: bspcb.bihar.gov.in.
