Patna: LJP (Ram Vilas) will organise a ‘Bahujan-Bheem Sankalp Samagam’, with party president and Union Minister Chirag Paswan set to lead the event and interact with the public. The decision was announced following the state executive meeting of the party held in Patna on Friday, where leaders passed a 10-point resolution aimed at bolstering the party’s outreach among Dalits, backward classes, and marginalised communities.
The resolutions included demands to protect the socio-economic rights of the poor and backward classes, a proposal to rename Gaya International Airport as Lord Buddha International Airport, and calls for private sector reservations. The party also reiterated its demand for posthumous conferment of the Bharat Ratna to late Ram Vilas Paswan, along with installing his statue in the Samvidhan Sadan.
Underlining its nationalist stance, the party vowed to support the armed forces and oppose “leftist anarchy”, a message seen as consolidating its position within the NDA alliance.
State party president Raju Tiwari, who chaired the meeting, emphasised that respect for grassroots workers would be the party’s top priority going forward. The meeting was conducted by principal general secretary Sanjay Paswan and attended by several party MPs and senior leaders including Arun Bharti, Hulas Pandey, Shankar Jha Baba, and Dr Shahnawaz Ahmed Kaifi.
Party insiders see the planned Sankalp Samagam as an attempt to galvanise the LJP (Ram Vilas)’s traditional support base ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections in 2025, while also projecting Chirag Paswan’s leadership as the face of Dalit assertion in the NDA fold.
