Patna: A change in weather conditions is expected in Bihar starting Sunday, with the Meteorological Department issuing an orange alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across several parts of the state, including the capital Patna. Hot and humid conditions are likely to persist until then, particularly in the southwestern regions.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Patna, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds blowing at 50–60 km/h and lightning are likely in parts of western and northeastern Bihar. The weather department has urged residents to take necessary precautions during this period.
Temperature to Drop by 2–3°C
While no major change in the maximum temperature is expected over the next 24 hours, a drop of 2–3 degrees Celsius is forecast in the subsequent two to three days. This shift will likely bring some relief from the ongoing heatwave in the state.
Capital Records Temperature Dip
A drop in maximum temperatures was recorded across several districts on Friday. Patna witnessed a 2.5°C fall, with the mercury settling at 38.0°C. Despite the dip, the city continued to experience humid weather. The highest temperature in the state was reported from Dehri, which recorded 43.4°C.
In other cities, Gaya reported a maximum temperature of 42.7°C and a minimum of 28.6°C, while Bhagalpur recorded 34.7°C and Muzaffarpur logged 35.2°C as the day’s high. Minimum temperatures in these cities hovered between 26.2°C and 28.6°C.
Rainfall in Kishanganj, Araria
Parts of north-eastern Bihar received rainfall over the last 24 hours. Kishanganj recorded 36.2 mm, followed by Dighalbank with 12 mm, Thakurganj with 8 mm, and Sikti in Araria with 4.2 mm.Â
