Patna: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna is celebrating a significant academic milestone as its Director, Prof T.N. Singh, has been ranked the No.1 Earth Science researcher in India in the 4th edition of Research.com’s global ranking of top scientists.

The ranking, based on the D-Index (Discipline H-index), evaluates researchers by measuring publication volume and citation impact in their specific field. Prof Singh’s D-Index stands at an impressive 66, supported by 14,716 citations across 326 peer-reviewed publications, firmly establishing him as India’s foremost Earth Science scholar and among the most influential globally.

Compiled using data from respected academic repositories including OpenAlex and CrossRef, the ranking acknowledges Prof Singh’s sustained contributions to Earth Science over several decades, spanning research innovation, academic leadership, and institutional development.
