Patna: Sudha Dairy has announced a hike in milk prices across Bihar and Jharkhand, effective from May 22, citing rising production and distribution costs. The price of Sudha’s full cream milk (Gold) has risen by Re 3 to Rs 65 per litre, while Sudha Shakti milk will now retail at Rs 57 per litre, up from Rs 55. Cow milk has also seen an increase of Re 2 per litre, taking the price from Rs 52 to Rs 54.
The cooperative’s decision follows a nationwide increase by Amul earlier this month, which raised its milk prices by Rs 2 per litre across all major variants. The latest revision marks a broader trend of price adjustments within India’s dairy sector, largely driven by escalating input costs such as animal feed and fuel.
Sudha Milk, operated by the Bihar State Milk Cooperative Federation (Comfed), has been a key player in the region since its establishment in 1983. It was launched to ensure fair pricing for farmers and to dismantle exploitative local milk mafias. At present, prices for other Sudha products such as ghee, lassi, and peda remain unchanged.
