Bihar: Liquor Worth Rs 20 Lakh Seized in Begusarai, One Arrested

Begusarai: In a major crackdown on illegal liquor trade, Begusarai police seized foreign liquor worth around ₹20 lakh during a raid near Siuri village under Manjhaul police station limits. The raid was conducted based on a tip-off, and one person has been arrested in connection with the case.
The operation was led by Manjhaul DSP Naveen Kumar, who swiftly acted on information that a truck loaded with liquor was parked near Siuri bridge on State Highway 55. The truck, bearing a West Bengal registration number, was intercepted while it was en route to Begusarai.
During the inspection, police discovered 230 cartons of 180 ml foreign liquor bottles in the vehicle. The cartons, upon being unloaded and counted at Manjhaul police station by SHO Ravindra Kumar and his team, were found to contain 2001 litres of liquor. The total value of the seized consignment is estimated at ₹20 lakh.
The arrested individual has been identified as Phool Mohammad, son of Mohammad Usman, a resident of Vishanpur Bahnagari village under Sakra police station in Muzaffarpur district. Preliminary investigation suggests that the liquor was being transported for illegal retail distribution within the Manjhaul area.
“The interrogation of the arrested driver is underway. Efforts are being made to trace the supply network and identify both the source and the intended recipients of the liquor consignment,” said DSP Naveen Kumar.
