Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for seven districts in Bihar today, warning of strong winds and the possibility of rain. According to the latest forecast, wind speeds in Kishanganj, Araria, Supaul, Madhepura, Saharsa, Purnia, and Katihar may reach 30 to 40 km/h. Lightning strikes are also a concern, prompting officials to urge caution.
While these districts may see rainfall, the rest of Bihar is expected to experience dry and stable weather conditions on Thursday. No major relief from heat is expected in the next 24 hours, the IMD said.
Temperature Trends
The weather office has predicted that both maximum and minimum temperatures will remain largely unchanged across the state in the next 24 hours. However, a rise of 2 to 4°C is expected over the next four days, potentially leading to warmer days and nights ahead.
Humidity and hot winds will continue to dominate most areas, contributing to discomfort despite the normal temperature range.

Several districts—including Patna, Jehanabad, Ara, Lakhisarai, Bhagalpur, Banka, and Jamui—experienced rainfall on Wednesday afternoon. In Nalanda, heavy rain led to waterlogging on roads, and strong winds caused damage to homes and crops. Jamui recorded a significant drop in temperature following heavy showers, while Kishanganj also faced rain accompanied by gusty winds.
Nights to Get Warmer Too
The IMD has indicated that minimum temperatures are also expected to rise by 2 to 4°C over the next few days. This suggests warmer nights, offering little respite from the daytime heat.
Advisory for Farmers
The weather department has specifically cautioned farmers in yellow alert districts, as current conditions may impact Kharif crop preparations, including paddy transplantation. While the rainfall may aid farming activity, sudden weather changes could also cause damage. Farmers are advised to monitor updates closely and plan activities accordingly.
