Muzaffarpur: A dedicated hostel for working women will soon open in Muzaffarpur under the Chief Minister Nari Shakti Yojana, aimed at promoting economic independence among women. The Women and Child Development Hostel, located in Vaidehi Complex, Mithanpura, is expected to be operational within the next one to one-and-a-half months.

District Project Manager Tamsil Abida informed that the construction agency will hand over the building by June 15, and preparations for accommodation will begin immediately after. A sweeper was appointed on Wednesday to ensure cleanliness and hygiene as the final phase of readiness begins.

Affordable Living for Working Women

The hostel will cater to around 50 women whose monthly income is ₹40,000 or less. Residents will be charged a nominal fee of ₹3,000 per month, which includes lodging and food.

This initiative is part of the Bihar government’s effort to support working women by providing them with safe, affordable, and well-equipped housing options in urban areas.

Facilities to Support a Comfortable Stay

The hostel will feature a range of amenities, including:

  • Private rooms with toilets and bathrooms
  • Entertainment room and guest room
  • Medical room for health needs
  • Continuous electricity and water supply
  • Parking space and security guard for safety

Tamsil Abida emphasized that the scheme will help promote women’s empowerment by offering a stable environment for those pursuing jobs, businesses, or education in the city.
