PATNA – Bihar’s 4 lakh contractual teachers have received a significant gift from the Nitish Kumar government. Even before the New Year, these teachers have been granted the status of state employees. This decision taken by the Cabinet on Tuesday is considered quite crucial. Previously, contractual teachers had been demanding the status of state employees for a long time.
The state government has decided to grant the status of state employees to teachers appointed under the Panchayati Raj and Municipal Corporation institutions. This decision aims to improve the effective management of primary and secondary education in the state, enhance quality, and create a conducive academic environment. To facilitate this, the Bihar School Specific Teacher Rules 2023 have been approved.
In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday, the State Cabinet approved this proposal.
Further decisions regarding these teachers, such as the option to choose from three districts during exams and the benefits of promotions in the future, will be decided later. Promotions will be granted to teachers of classes 1 to 5 in eight years, classes 6 to 8 in eight years, and classes 9 to 12 in eight years.
Other Decisions
The Cabinet has also approved the allocation of funds to upgrade 7115 existing Anganwadi centers to Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) centers and for the operation of these centers. Additionally, a sum of 136 crores has been approved for the establishment of a cultural auditorium and art gallery named Shri Bhikhari Thakur Prakashagriha with an art gallery in the Chhapra Divisional District Headquarters.
The Cabinet has given its approval for the creation of more than 370 positions across various departments. Furthermore, the Bihar Fisheries Policy and Service Rules 2023 have been approved.
