BUXAR – The upcoming year, 2024, holds the promise of significant transformations for the roads of Buxar district. A series of projects aimed at enhancing road infrastructure are set to redefine the landscape of transportation in the region. Notably, two new four-lane highways are slated to be expedited, emanating from the Purvanchal Expressway.
The Purvanchal Expressway is poised to be a catalyst for change, ushering in a new era of connectivity and accessibility in Buxar. The focus will be on the speedy development of two four-lane highways, contributing to a comprehensive makeover of the district’s road network. Additionally, the much-anticipated widening of the Buxar-Mohaniya Highway is on the horizon, along with the initiation of construction for a four-lane bypass around Buxar city.
The overhaul extends to the improvement of the old Bhojpur-Dumraon-Bikramganj-Nasriganj-Daudnagar-Gaya-Biharsharif highway, set to undergo widening. Concurrently, plans for a bypass road outside Dumraon city are expected to kick off, streamlining traffic and enhancing connectivity.
A significant development is also anticipated with the widening of the Asha Padri-Niyajipur-Gangauli road, easing travel from the Diara area to Uttar Pradesh. The Chausa-Kochas State Highway is earmarked for improvements, offering a promising upgrade to its existing condition.
Moreover, the Rural Affairs Department is poised to bring about positive changes in the remote hamlets and villages, providing them with concrete roads—a testament to the commitment to inclusivity in the road development initiatives.
The National Highway landscape in Buxar is currently overseen by two agencies, each responsible for specific highways passing through the district. The National Highway Authority of India manages the development of Patna-Buxar NH 922, while the Road Construction Department of the state government supervises the old Bhojpur-Dumraon-Daudnagar NH 120 and Buxar-Chausa-Mohaniya NH 319A.
NH 319A is undergoing development in two sections. The first involves the conversion of a 45 km stretch from Mohaniya to Chausa into a two-lane road. The second section envisions the construction of a four-lane road between Chausa and Buxar, traversing the southern periphery of Buxar city and intersecting the Buxar-Itadhi Road near Lalganj, ultimately connecting with Patna-Buxar NH 922 near Kathkauli village.
