AIIMS Patna to Showcase Cutting-edge Drone Demonstration on December 30

PATNA – The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna is set to showcase a ground-breaking drone demonstration on December 30, 2023. Dr GK Pal, the Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Patna, will be supervising the event and leading the institute’s foray into innovative healthcare solutions.

This demonstration is part of the Drone Project of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which is being implemented in all INIs in health sector under the direct supervision and guidance of Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare. Union Health Ministry has given all logistic support for procurement of Drone, training of Drone Didis for becoming pilots for operating Drones and services for initiations & sustenance of Drone projects in major INIs. This demonstrations is part of the preparation of launching of Drone Project by Union Health Ministry in January, 2024.

This pilot demonstration of the drone project, spearheaded by Dr. Pal, aims to demonstrate the capabilities of drones at AIIMS Patna for its feasibility and functionality. The drone will embark on a journey from the AIIMS Patna campus to the Community Health Center in Naubatpur, a distance of 15 kilometers. This initiative underscores AIIMS Patna’s commitment to leveraging technology for efficient healthcare delivery and outreach.

Key individuals instrumental in the success of this demonstration of drone project include Dr. Sanjay Pandey, the Nodal Officer, Dr. Anil Kumar, Member secretary of Drone Committee, Dr. Binod Pati, and Nilotpal Bal, DDA. Their collective expertise and dedication have played a crucial role in bringing this 1st demonstration of innovative project to fruition.

Dr. Pal expressed his optimism about the potential impact of this drone project, stating, “This demonstration marks a significant milestone in healthcare logistics. We envision a future where drones play a vital role in delivering medical supplies and services, especially in remote areas.”

The event will take place at the premier institute AIIMS Patna and is open to the media and public. Attendees will witness first-hand the convergence of healthcare and cutting-edge technology.
Only limitation is extensive fog which may limit the fly distance and in such situation demonstration will be done for shorter distance.
