Patna: In a dramatic escalation of an ongoing family and political saga, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad has formally expelled his elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from the party for a period of six years. The official notification, dated May 25, was released on Sunday by the RJD, solidifying a decision Lalu had earlier announced via social media following the “Anushka Yadav episode.”
The expulsion letter, signed by Rashtriya Janata Dal National General Secretary Abdul Bari Siddiqui, stated, “In the light of the Honorable National President, Tej Pratap Yadav is expelled from the primary membership of the party for six years.”
“Disregarding Moral Values”
Lalu had previously made his intentions clear through a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle. He wrote, “Disregarding moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice. The activities, public conduct and irresponsible behavior of the eldest son are not in accordance with our family values and sanskaar. Therefore, due to the above circumstances, I am separating him from the party and the family.”

Despite the formal expulsion, Tej Pratap has continued to express affection for his family on social media. He recently shared his happiness over the birth of younger brother Tejashwi Yadav’s son. Just today, he posted two messages: one reminiscing about his parents and another, calling Tejashwi his “Arjun,” asserting that no one can separate them. In a cryptic turn, he also promised to soon expose “Jaichands” – a historical reference to a betrayer – without specifying who these individuals might be. This ongoing social media activity suggests the family and political drama is far from over.
