Buxar: In an unprecedented disciplinary move, the Superintendent of Police in Buxar, Shubham Arya, has ordered the suspension of salaries for 100 police personnel across the district for their alleged negligence in handling minor criminal cases, commonly referred to as “pocket cases.”
The directive, issued under District Order No. 951/2025 on June 11, identifies police officers who failed to advance investigations into cases lodged at several stations including Mufassil, Dumraon, Rajpur, Itadhi, Dhansoi, Nagar, Naya Bhojpur, Sonvarsha, Sikraul, Koransarai, Vasudeva, and Navanagar. According to official sources, the delay in resolving these cases—registered as early as January—prompted the sweeping action. SP Arya has given the officers a three-day deadline to submit final reports, warning of further disciplinary measures should they fail to comply.
“The pocket case is a primary category of crime involving everyday complaints from citizens. Swift justice in these matters is essential,” said Arya. “The delays are not just administrative failures, they’re a denial of justice to the public.” Among those affected, Mufassil police station saw over 20 personnel penalised, while more than 11 officers from Dumraon and 10 from Rajpur were also named in the order. The move has reportedly caused unease within the department, but it has also been welcomed by local residents, many of whom expressed frustration over persistent delays in police action.
Copies of the order have been circulated to the district administration, accounts office, and all relevant police and sub-divisional heads.
