Patna: A solemn condolence meeting was held on Saturday morning at St Xavier’s College of Management & Technology, Patna, in memory of Manisha Thapa, a beloved student whose untimely death in the Ahmedabad plane crash has left the institution in deep mourning.
The gathering took place at 9:30 am near Gyanpath on the Xavier University campus, where faculty members, staff, students, alumni, and Principal Fr Dr Martin Poras SJ joined together in prayer and remembrance. The ceremony began with readings from sacred texts and floral tributes, followed by the planting of a sapling in Manisha’s honour — a symbol of life and remembrance.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Poras described Manisha as a bright, kind-hearted, and dedicated student whose presence had left an indelible mark on the college community. “Her absence leaves a void in the Xavier family that cannot be filled,” he said, visibly moved.
Faculty members and classmates shared heartfelt memories of Manisha, recalling her academic sincerity, warm demeanour, and the joy she brought to her peers. Alumni who had once studied alongside her also paid their respects, offering words of comfort and support to the grieving family.
The event concluded with a collective prayer for peace and strength, followed by a candle-lighting ceremony in Manisha’s memory. In quiet unity, the college stood together — a community struck by loss but strengthened in solidarity.
Manisha Thapa will be remembered not only for her academic promise but for the warmth, humility, and grace she carried with her.
