Patna DM Dr. Thiyagarajan SM Confirms Danapur-Bihta Elevated Road in Patna to Be Completed by September 2026

District Magistrate Dr Tyagarajan S.M. announced that the Danapur-Bihta elevated road, aimed at easing Patna’s traffic congestion, is on track for completion by September 2026.

Patna: Patna is set to witness a significant upgrade in its transport infrastructure, with the Danapur-Bihta elevated road slated for completion by September 2026, according to District Magistrate Dr Tyagarajan S.M. On Sunday, Dr Tyagarajan conducted an on-site inspection of the under-construction elevated corridor, along with related infrastructure projects including the Kanhauli bus terminal and roadworks in the Danapur region. The elevated road, once operational, is expected to substantially ease traffic congestion in the city and improve connectivity between Patna and Bihta. During his visit, the DM reviewed progress at several key locations, including a ramp under construction near Gadikhan on the Saguna Mod–Khagaul Road, the stretch between Kanhauli and Sherpur, and the Patali bus station. “This project will make travel between Patna and Bihta significantly quicker and smoother,” he said, adding that the benefits for daily commuters would be considerable.

Land acquisition for the elevated road is largely complete, with 104 acres secured across 22 villages. Compensation amounting to ₹154.94 crore has already been distributed to 1,067 farmers, and officials have been instructed to fast-track the remaining disbursals to avoid delays. The administration is also overseeing encroachment removal, relocation of structures, and alternative traffic arrangements, all of which are reportedly progressing swiftly. Dr Tyagarajan noted that implementation agencies, including the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), are receiving full cooperation from district authorities.Alongside the elevated corridor, several other major projects are in progress — including a civil enclave at the Bihta military airport, the Kanhauli bus terminal, and extensive road widening and beautification works. Officials say the combined impact of these initiatives will not only improve traffic flow but also enhance overall civic infrastructure for lakhs of residents across Patna district.
