Nawada: A 30-year-old man died allegedly due to medical negligence at an unlicensed private clinic in Nawada district, raising serious questions about the unchecked operations of illegal nursing homes and quack doctors in the region.

The deceased, identified as Krishna Manjhi, a resident of Tetaria Beldaria village, had been suffering from fever for four days. On Monday, his family took him to a private clinic run by one Dr. Praveen. According to the family, the doctor administered an injection after which Krishna’s condition rapidly deteriorated. He reportedly began experiencing severe breathing difficulty and eventually died.

Following the incident, Dr. Praveen allegedly shut down the clinic and fled the scene. The family was sent to Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared Krishna dead on arrival.

Krishna leaves behind a grieving wife and two young children. The family has accused the doctor of negligence and demanded strict legal action.

“This is murder by negligence. My husband was walking and talking. They gave him one injection and he never came back to us,” said Krishna’s wife, holding her children outside the hospital.

Health Department sources confirmed that such incidents are not isolated in Nawada. “There are many clinics and nursing homes operating without proper licenses in the district. Ultrasound centres are also running illegally. While action is taken and some are sealed, many simply reopen under different names at new locations,” said a senior official, requesting anonymity.

Activists and locals have long demanded a crackdown on unlicensed medical practitioners, but enforcement remains weak, allegedly due to the nexus between such operators and some officials in the health department.

As of now, no official FIR has been registered. Authorities say a probe is underway and action will be taken based on the findings.
