Patna: Bihar’s new film promotion policy is drawing increased attention from the Hindi film industry, with the latest success being the suspense thriller Tia, shot 100 percent in the state. Directed by Rao Devendra Singh, the film stars Darshan Kumar of The Kashmir Files fame and Aanchal Singh, known for the web series Kali Kali Aankhen, with Ira Sinha featuring as a child artist.
The shooting began in Valmikinagar and later shifted to the capital, Patna. According to filmmaker Sagar Srivastava, the team received full support from both the state government and local residents, helping make the process seamless.
Approximately 90 percent of the film was shot in and around Valmikinagar, capturing its natural beauty, while the remaining 10 percent is being filmed at iconic locations in Patna, including Boring Road, Marine Drive, ISKCON Temple, and Rajvanshi Nagar. The shooting is expected to wrap up by June 20, with the film slated for a theatrical release in November.
Pranav Kumar, Secretary of the Department of Art, Culture and Youth, welcomed the development, calling it a “positive sign” for Bihar. “It is a pleasure to see that filmmakers are now taking Bihar’s culture, locations and local talent seriously. Whether it is the natural beauty of Valmiki Nagar or the modern identity of Patna – it is a matter of pride to see all this on the big screen,” he said.
He added that such initiatives will not only promote Bihar’s image in cinema but also offer new opportunities for local youth and creative talent.
