Patna: In a move aimed at easing the pilgrimage for devotees travelling to Baba Baidyanath Dham during Shravani Mela, the East Central Railway has announced a temporary halt for the Gaya–Kamakhya Express at Sultanganj station.

The decision will affect train numbers 15619 and 15620, with the stop operational between July 11 and August 9 — a period that coincides with the annual Kanwar Yatra, which begins from Sultanganj and draws large numbers of pilgrims.

Speaking on the development, Saraswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway, said: “Every year, thousands of devotees begin their Kanwar Yatra from Sultanganj. To facilitate their travel and ensure better accessibility, the Gaya–Kamakhya Express will now halt at Sultanganj for two minutes in both directions.”

According to the revised schedule, train 15619 Gaya–Kamakhya Express will arrive at Sultanganj at 5.45pm and depart at 5.47pm. In the return direction, train 15620 Kamakhya–Gaya Express will reach at 12.11pm and leave at 12.13pm.
