BRA Bihar University Celebrating International Yoga Day
Muzaffarpur: BRA Bihar University observed the 11th International Yoga Day on Saturday with a spirited gathering of students, faculty and staff, led by Vice Chancellor Prof Dinesh Chandra Rai. The event, held at the university’s new guest house, saw participants take part in a synchronised yoga session in line with guidelines issued by the Ministry of AYUSH.
Renowned yogacharya Shailendra conducted the session, guiding attendees through a series of asanas and breathing techniques, with an emphasis on posture, mindfulness and overall well-being.
“Yoga is not merely a set of physical exercises; it is a holistic science that integrates the body, mind and soul,” Prof Rai said in his opening remarks. “In a world overwhelmed by stress and lifestyle-related diseases, yoga offers a powerful remedy—enhancing physical fitness, mental clarity and emotional balance.”

He also spoke about the broader impact of yoga, highlighting its ability to improve flexibility, strength and respiratory health, while fostering a sense of inner peace. “By embracing yoga, we equip ourselves to navigate life’s challenges with greater resilience,” he added.
This year’s celebration included a nod to the Ministry of AYUSH’s nationwide initiative, Yoga Sangam—a mass yoga demonstration aimed at unifying people across India. “The ‘Yoga Sangam’ reflects the global recognition of yoga as a force for unity and wellness,” said Prof Rai. “It aligns seamlessly with the vision of ‘One Earth, One Health’.”
The vice chancellor concluded by encouraging attendees to make yoga a daily practice, describing its long-term benefits as both personal and societal.
