PATNA: Electric vehicle enthusiasts in Bihar have a double dose of excitement as the state transport department announces an extension of the much-anticipated Bihar Electric Vehicle Conclave, 2024. Originally planned for a single day, the conclave will now span two days- Thursday and Friday, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in the future of sustainable transportation.
Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal unveiled the extended event during an inspection at Hotel Maurya, the venue for the conclave, a collaborative effort by the Bihar Transport Department, the Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB), and WRI India. The two-day affair promises to showcase the latest in electric vehicles (EVs) and charging facilities, emphasizing eco-friendly solutions for transportation.
As part of the conclave, attendees will have the unique opportunity to test-drive both two and four-wheeler EVs by pre-booking driving slots during the expo. “Through EV Conclave and Expo, people will get the opportunity to know, see, and understand the electric vehicle industry, environment-friendly transportation facility, electric vehicle technology, battery technology, accessories, service, and the latest updates. In fact, this event will be a big step towards solutions regarding eco-friendly (environmentally safe) transportation,” Agarwal said.
More than 10 prominent EV manufacturing and charging facilities companies, including Hyundai Motor, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, MG Hector, Maruti, Toyota, Hero, and Ola Electric, are set to display their state-of-the-art products in the expo area. The exhibition will feature four-wheeler and two-wheeler electric vehicles, as well as e-cycles and electric buses, creating a comprehensive showcase of the evolving electric mobility landscape.
The conclave will not only feature an impressive expo but also host dignitaries who will share their insights. Distinguished guests, including Dr. Andrew Fleming, Deputy High Commissioner to East and North East India at the British High Commission, and Sudhendu Jyoti Sinha, Adviser at NITI Aayog, have already arrived in the city. Esteemed figures from the Bihar government, such as Chief Secretary Amir Subhani, Development Commissioner Vivek Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Road Construction) Pratyaya Amrit, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries) Sandeep Poundrik, Principal Secretary (Energy) Sanjeev Hans, and others, will actively participate in panel discussions.
Transport Minister Sheela Kumari will inaugurate the event, including the EV expo. The Bihar Electric Vehicle Conclave, 2023, stands poised to be a landmark event, contributing significantly to the discourse on sustainable and eco-friendly transportation in the region.
