Gayaji: Two school students were killed in a tragic road accident on Wednesday in Gayaji after a speeding pickup truck ran over them near the Belaganj bypass. The victims, Mohammad Farhan (15) and Mohammad Shamsher (12), were riding a bicycle to school when the vehicle struck them. Both died on the spot.

The incident occurred in the Belaganj police station area. Witnesses reported that the pickup truck was moving at high speed and lost control before hitting the boys. The driver fled the scene with the vehicle and had not been identified at the time of reporting.

Police arrived shortly after being informed but faced opposition from the grieving families, who refused to allow a postmortem. The bodies were taken directly to their villages—Vanshi Bigha and Padariya—by the family members.

“When the child is gone, what will we do with a postmortem or compensation?” said a relative of one of the boys. The double fatality has plunged both villages into mourning.

Authorities have begun an investigation and are searching for the driver.
