Sikta (West Champaran): A sombre incident unfolded on Monday in Bakulhar Meena Tola of Gopalpur police station, where the body of a young man was discovered hanging.

The deceased, identified as Anil Kumar Yadav (20), son of Mahendra Yadav and resident of Bakulhar Meena Tola, reportedly met his demise while attempting to increase his height for constable recruitment through a strenuous exercise routine.

According to the relatives, Yadav was diligently engaged in height-increasing exercises aimed at meeting the eligibility criteria for Bihar Police recruitment. Head of the police station, Inspector Rajroop Rai, stated that upon receiving the information, the youth’s lifeless body, hanging from a rope in his animal house, was swiftly sent to Government Medical College Hospital, Bettiah, for a post-mortem examination.

Family members shared that the young man followed his daily exercise routine in the animal house, situated approximately 300 yards away from his residence. On Monday morning, he left for his routine exercises but failed to return home by evening. It was during the late hours, when the animals were being tended to and tied, that Yadav was discovered hanging, having succumbed to the noose.

Local authorities were alerted to the tragic incident, prompting a police investigation at the scene. The village was engulfed in grief and sorrow following the news. Relatives were visibly distressed, with Yadav’s mother, Asha Devi, experiencing frequent bouts of fainting. The deceased youth, who was the second among his siblings, had two brothers and two sisters, one of whom is already married.

With high hopes vested in him as the eldest child, the deceased harbored aspirations of joining the police force. Unfortunately, his dreams faced setbacks as he had reportedly been rejected three times in constable recruitment examinations due to a marginal shortfall in height, falling short by just an inch. The repeated rejections had left him disheartened and disappointed, contributing to the tragic turn of events that unfolded on that fateful day.
