Patna: Bihar is set to experience a prolonged period of chilly weather as icy cold westerly and north-westerly winds are forecasted to sweep through the lower troposphere from January 19 onwards. Additionally, jet stream winds, ranging between 140-160 knots at an altitude of 12.6 km above sea level, are expected to prevail over the plains of North India.

This meteorological phenomenon is anticipated to maintain the winter conditions in the state, extending from January 19 to January 24. During this period, the minimum temperatures are projected to hover below 10°C, gradually dropping to as low as 2°C – 3°C. Current data suggests that there will be minimal change in the maximum temperatures, which are currently recorded between 14°C – 16°C at most locations across the state.

In addition to the cold temperatures, residents can expect fog to blanket some areas in Bihar over the next five days. This weather forecast underscores the need for residents to brace themselves for an extended period of cold weather, with precautions advised to ensure their well-being during this chilly spell.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond to any potential challenges that may arise as a result of the prolonged cold weather. The public is urged to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary measures to stay warm and safe during this winter period.
