Patna: Bihar has approved a new Renewable Energy Policy to increase the use of clean energy in the state. The policy was passed by the state cabinet on Tuesday and will remain in place for the next five years. It will help Bihar produce more solar, wind, and biomass energy, along with new storage systems.

The government plans to set up nearly 24,000 MW of renewable energy projects under this policy. Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav said this will make Bihar self-reliant in energy and support India’s goal of reducing pollution by 2070. He thanked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his leadership in making this decision.

The policy will offer many benefits to investors, such as no stamp duty, land conversion fees, or state taxes. It also promises easy approvals, single-window clearances, and relaxed rules for rooftop solar panels to attract private companies and developers to invest in Bihar’s clean energy sector.

Energy Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh said the new policy will help Bihar meet its growing electricity needs and protect the environment. Officials believe it will create jobs, reduce dependence on coal, and support economic growth in a cleaner way.
