IIT Patna Welcomes New Batch of Students with Campus Orientation

Patna: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna held a campus immersion and orientation programme on Friday, marking the first phase of its hybrid admissions process for the 2025 academic year.

Addressing a gathering of newly admitted students and their families, the institute’s director, Prof T N Singh, urged students not to let exam scores define their worth, emphasising that “a difference of just one mark or one percent does not define a person’s true capability.”

“Don’t let others write your story — let your hard work, dedication, and confidence define who you are,” Prof Singh told the audience, encouraging students to chart their own paths despite challenges.

The event, which began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, featured several senior faculty members including Prof A K Thakur, Dean of Administration; Dr N K Tomar, Associate Dean of Resources; Dr Anoop Keshari, Associate Dean of R&D; and Dr Rajeev Mishra, Head of Computer Science and Engineering. Neeraj Rajhans, chairman of the institute’s Management Executive Society (MES), welcomed guests with shawls and bouquets.

Dr Tomar outlined the breadth of academic offerings at IIT Patna, highlighting integrated and standalone programmes such as the five-year BBA-MBA, BS-MS (Artificial Intelligence and Computational Science/Data Analytics), and various BSc and BS courses.

Prof Thakur, meanwhile, encouraged students to embrace the academic culture and uphold the values of the institution.

The orientation aimed to familiarise students with the campus environment while instilling confidence and a sense of purpose as they embark on their studies.

The second phase of IIT Patna’s hybrid admission process is currently under way, with applications open until July 14. Students seeking admission are advised to contact the institute’s admission cell for further details.
