Patna: Passengers in Bihar will no longer need to carry cash to travel by bus. From August, the Bihar government will start an online ticket booking facility for all government and PPP mode buses. This step is aimed at making bus travel more convenient and fully cashless across the state.
For this, Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) will sign an agreement with Canara Bank today (Saturday). State Transport Minister Sheila Mandal, Additional Chief Secretary Mihir Kumar Singh, and BSRTC Administrator Atul Kumar Verma will be present during the signing ceremony. Under this agreement, Canara Bank will provide automatic fare collection machines for the buses to promote digital payments.
A new e-ticketing software will also be launched as part of this initiative. With this, passengers will be able to book tickets online using their mobile phones or computers from any part of the country. This system has been designed on the lines of Bangalore’s bus ticketing model and is expected to make travel easier and faster for people in Bihar.
Officials say the move will help reduce the use of cash, make payments safer, and ensure better services for passengers. This cashless system will also improve transparency and revenue collection for the transport department.
