Tensions Rise in Bihar’s Political Landscape as Lalu’s Daughter Deletes Tweets Targeting CM Nitish Kumar

Rohini Acharya Deletes Tweets Targeting CM Nitish Kumar

Patna: In a development that underscores the growing strain between political factions in Bihar, Rohini Acharya, the second daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, has deleted her recent tweets that indirectly criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The move by Acharya is seen as an attempt to ease tensions amidst signs of discord between the Janata Dal United (JD(U)) and Lalu’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) just ahead of the anticipated Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

Rohini Acharya had taken to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to express her discontent with Nitish Kumar’s remarks on dynastic politics. The Bihar Chief Minister had made these comments during an event commemorating the birth anniversary of Karpoori Thakur, a two-time former Bihar Chief Minister posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna by the Modi government.

In her now-deleted tweets, Acharya, without explicitly naming Nitish Kumar, took veiled jabs at the Chief Minister, stating, “Some people declare themselves as socialist stalwarts, but their ideology changes like the wind.” She further added, “Often, people cannot see their own shortcomings but continue to throw mud at others with impudence.”

Responding to Nitish Kumar’s statement about not promoting family members in politics, Acharya remarked in her second post, “Showing anger won’t help, as none of their own were qualified enough to carry forward their legacy. Their intentions are not right.”

Though not explicitly naming anyone, the target of Acharya’s criticism was apparent. Nitish Kumar, during the rally marking Karpoori Thakur’s 100th birth anniversary, emphasized that he had not promoted any family members in politics, taking a swipe at leaders who “promote people of their own families and make them leaders,” an apparent reference to Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Speculations are now swirling that Nitish Kumar, known for political maneuvering, might once again align with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as tensions escalate within the Bihar Mahagathbandhan, comprising the JD(U), RJD, and Congress. The unfolding events are closely watched by political observers as Bihar’s political landscape brims with uncertainty.
