Patna: The 21st Bihar Battalion of the Bihar Regiment marked its 44th Foundation Day on Sunday at the Bihar Regiment Centre in Danapur, Patna. The battalion was established on July 20, 1981, in Danapur Cantonment under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mansoor Malik.
During the celebrations, soldiers paid tribute at the Veer Smriti Sthal to honour those who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Officers including Brigadier Kamal Deep Jaspal, Lieutenant Colonel RC Khot, and Subedar Major Vipin Pradhan were present for the ceremony.
The battalion has a decorated history, having displayed courage and valour in multiple operations. Between 1982 and 1985, it carried out its responsibilities with dedication in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. It also participated in Operation Bajrang from 1990 to 1991, Operation Rakshak in Uri between 1999 and 2003, and Operation Alert in September 2014.
