Bharat Ratna Honor for Lal Krishna Advani: Nitish Kumar Expresses Joy, RJD Voices Opposition
Patna: The Central Government’s decision to honor senior BJP stalwart Lal Krishna Advani with the Bharat Ratna has been met with joy, as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his happiness and extended gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chief Minister conveyed his congratulations to Lal Krishna Advani via a phone call and shared the news on social media.
However, the award announcement faced opposition from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), with the party’s National Vice President, Shivanand Tiwari, presenting various arguments against conferring the Bharat Ratna on Advani. Tiwari cited historical events, including Advani’s arrest, to support his stance.
In contrast, BJP’s National General Secretary Rituraj Sinha welcomed the government’s decision. Sinha took to social media, stating, “Hearty congratulations to Lal Krishna Advani ji on being awarded India’s highest civilian honor ‘Bharat Ratna.’ Among the names of BJP credited with elevating the entire party to the national level, Advani stands in the front row as a top figure in Indian politics, our guide, and inspirer.”
