Patna: Patna Mayor Sita Sahu has once again raised concerns over alleged administrative negligence by Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar. In a letter issued recently, the mayor accused the commissioner of showing indifference towards civic responsibilities and demanded that the proceedings of several key municipal meetings be submitted within 48 hours.
According to the letter, the mayor cited that proceedings from six significant meetings—ranging from budget sessions held on March 19 and March 29, to ordinary meetings of the Empowered Standing Committee and Corporation Council held between May 10 and July 11—remain unissued. The delay, she stated, is obstructing public welfare initiatives and causing unrest among councillors who are requesting official records.
“Not issuing the proceedings is a clear indication of negligence and apathy towards the public,” Sita wrote, adding that the lack of transparency is hampering development work across Patna.
The current letter follows earlier action taken by the mayor, who had issued a show cause notice to the commissioner after disruptions during a municipal board meeting and disciplinary proceedings involving the mayor’s son. The commissioner was asked to respond within seven days regarding his conduct under Section 36(7) of the Bihar Municipality Act, 2007, or face legal action.
