Bihar Special Armed Police Jawan Shot Dead in Darbhanga, Investigation Underway

DARBHANGA —Tragedy struck Darbhanga when a Jawan of the Bihar Special Armed Police, previously known as Bihar Military Police, was shot dead today evening. Aman Kumar was posted in Darbhanga-13 and had just arrived home in the morning.

As soon as the news broke, police teams led by Sadar SDPO Rajesh Kumar arrived from various police stations, including Kotwali, Vasudevpur, Purab Sarai, and Mofussil. The body has been sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. A large police presence remains at the scene to maintain order.

According to reports, Aman Kumar had left his home to buy vegetables and was shot on his way back by unknown assailants. A shell casing has been recovered from the scene, and nearby CCTV footage is currently under scrutiny.

Sadar SDPO Rajesh Kumar stated that the police are conducting a thorough investigation and the culprits will soon be apprehended. “The murderers will not be spared under any circumstances,” said Kumar.

The victim’s wife, Namrata Devi, and their five children are devastated. Before the incident, Aman had told his wife that he would go out to purchase vegetables and then take the family to the Durga Puja fair. Namrata Devi was preparing herself and the children for the outing when news of her husband’s death arrived, plunging the household into chaos.

Family members said that Aman had no known enmities and had arrived in the morning from Darbhanga on leave. He had left in the evening to fetch vegetables after briefly visiting his old home. The senseless murder has left the family and community in a state of shock and mourning.
